‘Enamorirse’ (‘Falling in life’), or how to make a hymn to life out of a tragedy

The play is the result of the collaboration with the Ero Etxe society to mark the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Children’s cross-country Race. The tickets will have the symbolic price of 1 euro.

The company PTV-Clowns presents the play ‘Enamorirse’ -‘Falling in Life’- at Leidor, a new adventure story aimed at children from 6 upwards and a family audience. A fast paced adventure where the clowns Hula and Piojo, back at La Seño’s school, will have to face one of the most demanding challenges of their multifaceted career, none other than staging a scene from Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.
The audience is listening to La Seño’s teachings on some of the most famous love stories, especially those where the lovers have had to face the opposition of their respective families.
Right at that moment Hula and Piojo arrive at La Seño’s school. La Seño proposes that they stage Píramo and Tisbe’s tragic love story. If they manage to acquit themselves well in the challenge, they may have the chance to improve their marks. They get down to work, quickly. But Hula and Piojo, upset with the sad destiny of the main characters in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, explore different endings until they finally find one they like, which turns a tragic story into a hymn to love and  life.

The company PTV-Clowns is one of the oldest companies on the theatre for children scene. It was founded in 1971 and in 1978 it specialized in theatre for children. “We focus on in depth studying, and widening the possibilities of the clown as a theatre character. ‘Laughter is the shortest distance between you and us’ is our motto. We try to activate the feelings of the audience through our work” the heads of the Valencia based group explains.

So far they have produced twenty plays, all of them based on E. Samanillo’s original works and have staged over 5.000 shows for over two million people, both inside and outside Spain. In 2011 the company turned 40, and one day. Their career has been garlanded with a good number of prizes and nominations, like that of Generalitat Valenciana (Valencia Regional Government), ASSITEJ, Muestra de Autores Contemporáneos, the MAX Prizes or the recently created Premios de los Profesionales Valencianos (Premis Abril). They won the prize for Best Male Actor at Feten Festival in 2011 with ‘Enamorirse’ (‘Falling in life’).

They have collaborated in large audience television programs such as ‘El carro de la farsa’, ‘La cometa blanca’ and ‘Taller de Teatro’ of TVE. Also in the TVE program ‘Quintxalla’ made in Catalonia.
