Two Italian puppets show are the protagonists at the Topic

The Italian company Girovago E Rondella brings to Tolosa this coming weekend two shows ‘Il circo poetico’ and ‘Manoviva’.

The first show is a street staging that will take place at the Euskal Herria square this coming Friday. The show is set in the world of circus. ‘Manoviva’ can be seen the following day at Topic’s theatre. It is a stage where the detail is the protagonist.

The show is the parody of animal circus made with foam rubber and puppets of papier mâché. The show is defined as a surrealistic and popular figure theatre. It is a collection of techniques about the circus theme such as mime, music, puppets, the transmutation, the game, the balancing act, etc.


Manoviva is the evolution of the classic hand puppet characterized by 5 elements: a head, two hands, and two bent feet (comprising by thigh, knee, calf and foot). Those elements align each other by simply putting them over the hand fingers of the manipulator as follows: the head in the middle finger, the hands in the forefinger and index respectively, the legs in the thumb and pinky, thus giving live to an useful and versatile character. Once the show has ended, you will have the need to put the pieces of Manoviva and to imitate the artists.

Giravago e Rondella Family Theatre is one of the few Italian contemporary art families. It started back in 1987, when, after various experiences with mime, music and other applied arts, Girovago e Rondella met in Rhodes (Greece). Since then, and during seven years, they commenced to perform their shows in the Greek islands and along the Turkish coast and they converted in Family Theatre when their children Rugiada, Timoteo and Tommaso were born and who have found their place at the stage.
