Teatre Nu presents 'El abuelo Ramón' on saturday 16th

It is a show about the necessity of remembering, the desire to learn and the capacity to create

In the year 2009 the company Teatre Nu premiered a new show that goes into the affective links existing between the elder people and the children, within the relationship between someone who is beginning to live and another one who has been gaining a long experience. “The grandparents grow up, the grandchildren grow up too, and together they help each other in a process that leads to changes and constant learning”, explain from Catalan company.

‘Grandfather Ramón’ looks at “a grandfather and his granddaughter, and how the child lives in a process in which she is constantly learning while her grandfather is forgetting”. They have considered this story explaining it “from a point of view of a child, Nora, who explains how she sees and how she lives  what is happening to her grandfather, who comparing to her, he does not learn anymore, but he keeps forgetting. Nora’s grandfather, Ramón, suffers from Alzheimer and this disrupts his daily life and his relationship with the child.

Grandfather Ramón is a show “about grandparent’s affection, about the wish to keep alive their memory and, above all, about the will to live of a child who acts according to what she knows and believes, someone who learns from what she lives and interprets everything around her.

Teatre Nu began its journey back in 2000 with the play ‘El hombre justo’. It was then followed by ‘Bolavá detective’, ‘Los niños de mi escalera’, ‘La Cenicienta (quizás sí, quizás no)’, ‘La Luna de Juan’, ‘Sueños de Alicia’ and ‘Abuelo Ramón’.

Within the company Teatre Nu they think that “the boys and girls enjoy with art, they get excited, they are absolutely sensitive, they are creators of fantastic and imaginary worlds, they constantly interpret the reality, they question what they do not understand and they understand what is well explained to them. They are such a wonderful audience and to create shows specially addressed to them is quite a big challenge that truly fulfills any artist. We the adults believe that we know everything about the little ones, but this just happens because our memory fails us. For us each new show is an exercise to overcome this amnesia.
