The enrollment for the UNIMA Summer School is now open

It will take place from the 27th of June until the 4th of July and it has the objective to train and recycle professional puppeteers

It is organised by Unima Federation Spain, Unima Basque Country and the Topic. We want this year’s offer to be of interest, not just for puppeteers but for other people related to the world of arts, educators and art lovers in general. It is known that there is an increasing number of shows where different techniques mix and merge, getting an enriching crossbreeding.

The main course within the Summer School, titled ‘An Introduction to the World of Philippe Genty’, will open us horizons and also will provide us with interdisciplinary tools to create a visual theatrical language: acting, dance/movements, objects and materials for manipulation.


Along with that course, it must be emphasized the presence of Claudio Hochman, an excellent director in Object Theatre, who will contribute with his experience with two lectures about the interesting subject of Stage Direction. The lectures will be illustrated by two shows directed by him.

The plastic section, which always requires updates and new methods, it will be carried out by Javier Gallego, who is going to teach us the latex technique, interesting for both puppet theatre and acting theatre, as well as for movies and sculpture.
The relation Theatre/Education is going to have its share in this School with the workshop that has been arranged with the collaboration of the University of the Basque Country. We will also have a lecture-discussion about ‘Art and Therapy’, carried out by Mila Iglesias.

During the School days, there will be scheduled three puppet shows at the Topic. They are addressed to the people in Tolosa as well as to the School participants, who will enjoy the recreational aspect that cannot be missed in these gatherings and that will help concerning reflections, and thus, the learning.
