Topic’s management team works on important deals for the Tolosa Puppet Centre in India.
A mask exhibition and the acquisition of valuable pieces for the museum are just some of their goals

Topic’s managers, Miguel Arreche and Idoya Otegui are on a trip to India until the 13th of February. During their trip they will be guests at the Ishara Puppet Festival. They will also have meetings with artists and institutions on the Indian puppet scene.

As a result of this trip, Topic’s visitors might have the opportunity to enjoy an exhibition of Indian puppets in the near future, as well as the incorporation of new and important pieces in the museum’s collection.

Engruna Teatre presents the play ‘La Muñeca Pelona’, at Topic

The Catalan company tackles the theme of ‘tolerance’ in a play aimed at children from three to eight

This Saturday Engruna Teatre brings ‘La Muñeca Pelona’ to the stage at Topic, a fifty minute long play aimed at children from three to eight and at a family audience in general. A play in which, according to the members of the company, we can find “the interaction between very different artistic languages, like puppetry, music, theatre…, and values such as tolerance and acceptance of the differences between people”.

The main character lives in a cart full of junk. The doll feels different to the others because she’s bald and this will start her on a journey to look for hair for her bald head. During the journey she will meet very different characters, like Gigante, Caracol Col Col, Luna Lunera, Sol Solecito or Tom Thumb. “They will all show her that the most important thing is to accept ourselves the way we are” explain Ruth García and Mireia Fernández, founder members of the company and actresses in the play.

Topic Museum ends 2011 with over 14.000 visitors

Topic has been nominated for the “European Museum of Year 2012” Award which will be decided in Portugal in May

This last year, 2011, over 14.000 people visited Topic Museum and therefore, the three temporary exhibitions: 52 % adults; 31.6 % children; 16.4 % pensioners, apart from guests, teachers, journalists, members of ICOM, etc.

The different temporary exhibitions set up in 2011 have been very well attended. The one dedicated to “Colorín” (in the picture Blanca Urgell, the Regional Secretary of Culture, opens the exhibition) has been different to any previous show organised so far by TOPIC, as the value of the pieces or puppets as part of a historical moment or geographical area, was deliberately highlighted more than ever before.
