Teatro Paraiso presented its show ‘Kri kra kro’
Tuesday, 04 January 2011 11:34

The Basque company has staged this play in collaboration with a Belgian company

‘Kri kra kro’ is a show created by Teatro Paraiso Antzerkia in collaboration with Theatre de la Guimbarde from Belgium and is especially addressed to children between 3 and 6 years old as well as to families in general. In a show where questions and images come hand in hand in order to poetically sketch the world.

The main characters, He and She, are the curious inhabitants of a space populated by images and sounds. They play with their imagination transforming in a magic way and thus building a new universe, close to the particular look of the little spectators.

The scenic space allows to show the images as part of a game, as a possibility to explore and enjoy the world and not simply to contemplate it. The images, and the playing of the actors, make up a metaphor in a way to learn the reality, to show it and draw it. Images that evoke the city, the nature, the museum... while they build a theatrical poem full of question marks.

Magic for everyone by the magician Jonmagicmago
Tuesday, 04 January 2011 11:53

The young magician presented on Friday his show ‘Beyond imagination’ at Topic Centre

Magic show starred by the young magician Jonmagicmago, where families have the chance to assist to a session that mixes magic and humour to create a evening full of illusion. His name is Jon Esandi and he describes himself as ‘the youngest magician ever seen’. He is fourteen years old and a few months ago he stated in an interview, published at Noticias de Gipuzkoa, that since he was a little boy he was fascinated with the magicians he used to watch on television.

He explains that he tries to take a free time each day to rehearse. “At home there is a room where I keep all my belongings; material to fulfil a stage, a top hat, a magic wand, and a cage with two white pigeons in it: Loli and Pepi. They join me in some of the show I play”.

He says that he loves acting for the little spectators. “Adults do not focus in enjoying magic, instead they look at how good or bad you are performing, or searching for what goes wrong. It is far much easier to make magic tricks to children; they truly believe it and enjoy it”.

Christmas with puppets at Topic
Thursday, 09 December 2010 10:47

Christmas has arrived to TOPIC and we celebrate it with three puppet companies, on the 18th and 30th of December and the 8th of January, plus a magic show on the 7th of January.

This especial Christmas program begins on Saturday 18th of December with the play “Rutinas” (routines), carried out by Eugenio Navarro’s company. A Catalan production that brings a puppet staging inspired on the European popular tradition that throughout centuries have been portrayed by travelling puppeteers in streets, squares, parks and small theatres for children as well as for adults. As the title indicates, “Rutinas” is a series of manipulation sketches along with some representative characters from the classic repertoire: the ghost, the matador and the bull, the death, the devil, the bride, the baby...with barely any talking and a strong visual impact. The protagonist of “Rutinas” is Malik, the Iberian Adventurer, (a character created by La Fanfarra from Barcelona back in 1976), that in this occasion he will confront with a rebellion of different characters and various elements in this absurd comedy for billyclub puppets.

Topic’s Christmas program presents the Wizard of Oz.
Tuesday, 28 December 2010 08:26

Puppets and flamenco join together in this play that the company Buho y Maravillas (Owl and wonders) stages this coming Thursday.

The Wizard of Oz is a spectacle that mixes music and flamenco singing with puppets. The main character is Dorothy, who after suffering a knock, she is transferred to the wonderful world of Oz. In the search of finding her way back home she will cross with different characters and obstacles to get her way back home. These characters find themselves in the need of asking for help to the Wizard of Oz and, after experiencing together different adventures, each one will achieve his own reason to exist. Dorothy will come back home and their lives will finally make sense again.

The story shows how different characters depart in order to find the essential virtues for life, such as the value of the family, home and self-confidence (Dorothy), wisdom (the scarecrow), love (the tin man), courage (the lion). These are values and virtues that we can find in ourselves. It is specially addressed to children between the age of 4 and 11 and to families in general.
